Nutrition is defined as the act or process of nourishing or of being nourished. Nourishing is defined as promoting or sustaining life, growth, or strength. Integration is defined as an act or instance of combining into an integral whole.
In today’s mainstream, allopathic medical arena nutrition is typically associated with food. I maintain that human bodies need much more than just carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and proteins in order to remain healthy and combined with exercise can only provide wellness to a certain degree. A truly integrative approach includes a healthy balanced diet, regular exercise and internal, mindful meditation. Achieving and maintaining a fit body, mind and soul involves the combination of all degrees of veracity into an integrative approach towards wellness and life in general.
Integration of all life’s needs are paramount to a “whole person” When a person has the basic physical requirements of life met (food, water, shelter, etc. etc.), many believe this is enough. It is not. Even with a “healthy physical body” people can still get very ill. To be a healthy person you need spiritual nutrition as well as food.
Everyday we are bombarded with television, radio, internet and printed instructions and suggestions on how to maintain a healthy life. Unfortunately mainstream media and medicine have neglected to inform the general public of the benefits of simple mindful reflection. I assume it’s because there isn’t much profit in telling the world they can heal themselves without the billions of dollars spent annually on drugs and allopathic medicine. I’m not trying to suggest that conventional medicine is wrong, just grossly profit slanted.
I believe there would be many more healthy people on this planet if we could just convey the simple truth that you can almost always heal yourself; and that an integrative, holistic approach to health and life is the master plan to happiness, success and longevity.
